I would love to learn to play role playing games, but I feel intimidated by the rules. Would someone take me under their wing and guide me through how to play at this event?

Your fellow gamers will always gladly help you out as you play.
Also, since the player character sheets are pregeneted for you at each MerpCon even, and that's the most
complex part of the rules, and since most of the combat and actions rules mechanics are
handled by the game-master, it's really quite easy to just "jump in" and
begin playing and having a lot of fun right away without needing any special preparation.
